This first post is dedicated to Darrell Booth, my father, who was a great business man and who’s career was unfortunately cut short by cancer when he was a mere 53 years old. Two years younger than I am today. He was a disciplined and principled entrepreneur who believed in the benefits of strategic planning and building a team of dedicated professionals to execute that plan.
In his short life he built the foundation for a company, Kampgrounds of America, that thrives today, some thirty-five years after his death. In the franchise model that he and his management team pursued they created opportunity for generations of entrepreneurs, business people, and management staff who have been involved through the ownership or employment by the KOA, Sir Speedy, PIP, Multicopy, Team Logic systems.
My father had many attributes that differentiated his leadership style, however he had four specifically that he carried in his pocket and he brought these practices to his work every day!!
- Sense of Urgency
- Commitment to Excellence
- Singleness of Purpose
- Willingness to Change
